Minutes of the August Board of Director Meeting

August 20, 2010

The August meeting was called to order at 5:40 pm, at Arlene Sauer’s home, 134 W 47th Street, Davenport, IA.  Present at the meeting were Deb Lassen, Louise Link, Arlene Sauer, JoEllen Peace, Julie Jones, Barb Ehrmann, Carol Parker, Ruth Zumdahl, Virginia Mutters, Jolene Allen and Patti Angelici.

Secretary’s Report given by Deb Lassen:

The minutes of the July 19, 2010 meeting were distributed electronically.

Louise Link moved that the minutes be approved; the motion was seconded by JoEllen Peace and approved unanimously by the EWGA Board.

Treasurer’s Report given by Patti Angelici:

Balances as of July 31, 2010 are as follows:

  a)  Quad Cities Bank- checking $8,325.56

        Quad Cities Bank-savings $2,177.35

   b)  Income/Loss July Actual ($1,677.09)

                              July Budget ($78.76)

                              July Variance ($1,598.23)

                             YTD Actual $7,130.03

                             YTD Budget $4,508.99

                             YTD Variance $2,621.04

c)  Member Bucks balance 2010 is $710

 Invoices for Approval- Nothing to approve

$100.00 was paid to the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club for the Fall Dinner deposit

Old Items-

Jane McDonnell reported to Arlene Sauer that she potentially has all board positions filled except golf events and is waiting for the potential candidates for secretary and vice-president to agree to be nominated.

New Items-

Discussion was held regarding tee sign donation to Association Headquarters in the amount of $125.00.  It was decided not to donate this year.

Patti Angelici reported that we will no longer be able to support credit card payments that do not go through Pay Pal.

Leagues reported by Arlene Sauer-

League sub Money as of 8/15/10 Rustic Ridge $195, Byron Hills $130, Duck Creek $50, Saukie $10, Palmer $400, Highland $70 (some of which has already been used for prize money)

It was decided that any league that can not get all their weeks of golf in for the season, league members will be given course gift cards for the unplayed weeks. 

Ruth Zumdahl made a motion that $15.00 per week be given as prize money for the TPC fall league. the motion was seconded by Virginia Mutters and approved unanimously by the EWGA Board.

Social Events given by Julie Jones and Barb Ehrmann-

The Volunteer Recognition dinner will be Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club.  It was decided that the price for dinner will be set at $30.00.

December 8, 2010 will be the Holiday dinner at Biaggi’s.

Golf Events given by Arlene Sauer-

We have 13 people signed up for the August 21, 2010 President’s Cup at Saukie.  Estes will be donating drinks.  The following event will be September 16, 2010 at Pinnacle, the blast is ready to go out.

Membership given by Louise Link-

Louise Link is still working on getting pictures for the Membership Directory.

Education-Nothing to report

Handicap given by Virginia Mutters-

Virginia Mutters held a handicapped tournament for Palmer League to show how using your handicap works. 

JoEllen Peace made a motion that the EWGA Board provides three $20.00 gifts as Handicap prizes at the end of the season to be awarded at the October dinner;  the motion was seconded by Patti Angelici and approved unanimously by the EWGA Board.

Sponsorship given by JoEllen Peace and Jolene Allen- A $200.00 check from Sharalan Keppy with Lia Sophia will be presented as a donation to The First Tee program.  Sponsors, who’s contracts indicate, will be invited to the October  Dinner which will be paid for by the EWGA Board.

 Pink Ribbon Classic given by Arlene Sauer- The Pink Ribbon Classic has been moved to Pinnacle, the date is June 24, 2010. 

Communications –Carol Parker had lightening damage to her computer, DSL line, etc. she is now back up and running and will get the newsletter out soon.  Carol Parker will also be sending out the blast for upcoming events.

Kick off by Arlene Sauer for Jane McDonnell- Meetings have been put on hold until September.

Upcoming Dates:

Aug 21 President’s cup-9 hole event at Saukie

Aug 27 -28 Midwest Tournament in Janesville-we will have 13 members participating

Next Board Meeting- Tuesday, September 14, 2020 at Mercer.

The EWGA Board meeting adjourned at 7:10 pm.
